The Iron Giant follows the story of Hogarth, a young boy who befriends a giant robot from outer space. Not knowing how he got there or where he’s from, the Iron Giant follows Hogarth’s guidance and begins to see the world through a child’s eyes. At the same time, a government agent searches for the metal “monster” fearing its intentions aren’t that wholesome.

Featuring the typical style of storytelling from Brad Bird (The Incredibles 1 & 2), on the surface, it’s that of a fun, family-friendly feature, all the while adult themes simultaneously exist in the background. Not only an amazing adventure for all ages, but this is a movie that doesn’t talk down to children, communicating life, death and friendship, get involved.

Available on Netflix.
