Jacked In Recommends ‘Super’ (2010)

Photo: IFC Midnight

Super follows the story of Frank Darbo (Rainn Wilson), a luckless fry cook who has literally only had two perfect moments in his entire life. One of which is when he married his wife, Sarah (Liv Tyler), a recovering drug addict.

Unfortunately, after falling off the wagon, Sarah falls in with a bad crowd. Fearing she has been kidnapped, after being inspired by Christian TV’s The Holy Avenger, Frank takes it upon himself to become a vigilante and fight the forces of evil with his trusty wrench and mighty catchphrase:

Shut Up, crime!

It’s trippy, graphic, gory, but most importantly, it’s a hilarious, alternative take on the superhero genre from James Gunn’s (Guardians of the Galaxy, Slither) earlier days and incorporates everything the director does so well, get involved.
