Jacked In Recommends ‘The Father’ (2020)

Based on Florian Zeller’s play of the same name, The Father tells the story of Anthony (Anthony Hopkins), who is trying to hold on to independence in his advancing years. The world around him becomes confusing as Anthony’s mind begins to deteriorate, all the while his daughter Anne (Olivia Colman) tries her best to care for him.

A powerful movie to say the least, with a frighteningly, raw portrayal of dementia from a first-person perspective, which allows you to empathise with Anthony’s confusion throughout.

Perfect casting of Hopkins who (literally) gives an academy award-winning performance opposite Colman who truly embodies the traits of an individual going through an emotional ordeal that, sadly, many have experienced. Get involved.
