Whiplash follows the story of nineteen-year-old, aspiring drummer, Andrew Neiman (Miles Teller), in his first year at Shaffer Conservatory of Music – one of the best music schools in the United States. Andrew is dedicated to his craft and yearns to be the greatest drummer the world has ever seen. It’s not long before his skills are recognized by one of the most revered teachers in the school, Terence Fletcher (J.K. Simmons).

However, after Andrew is taken under his wing in the studio band, he discovers that Terence has some rather intimidating and hostile methods when it comes to getting the best out of his students. In short, this opportunity will either make or break Andrew.

An all-around brilliant cast, Teller brings his existing drum skills to the role and turns them up to eleven. Most notable is the brilliant performance of Simmons who won an academy award for his role. He truly makes Fletcher leap out of the screen, making you feel intimated from your couch!

A remarkably, exhilarating window into the world of studio band, jazz and the trials and tribulations one must go through to achieve greatness, get involved.
