Jacked In Reviews ‘Jackass Forever’ (2022)

Originally starting as a series about a group of buddies carrying out stunts and pranks on each other, Jackass went on to spawn several feature films with bigger budgets that allowed these crazy individuals to take their antics to even greater heights. It’s fair to say Jackass certainly isn’t for everyone but love it or hate it, you know what you’re getting, and Jackass Forever certainly follows this tradition. Watching a bunch of people putting themselves in harm’s way for our amusement, what could be better?

Well as it turns out, the movie itself is so much more than that, it acts as the perfect form of escapism. With everything that’s been going on these past couple of years, it’s nice to just switch off for an hour and thirty minutes whilst watching a bunch of friends having fun.

Not only that, but for those of us that grew up with the Jackass family, as soon as you see the captain himself, Johnny Knoxville, and the rest of the gang grace the big screen for the first time in eleven years – for yet another hysterical intro – you realise just how much you’ve missed these guys.

Back with some new faces (and the first-ever female Jackass member!), the team get involved in all of their usual high jinks, inflicting pain on themselves as well as each other, in the most innovative and hilarious ways possible. From the grander stunts – like shooting people out of a cannon and letting a real-life grizzly bear loose on someone – to going back to their roots with some good old-fashioned fails.

If comedic, real-life violence isn’t your jam, maybe steer clear. However, if you’re a longtime fan or simply like stunts, pranks, fails and of course, full-frontal male nudity, the fourth instalment in the franchise is definitely for you. Either way, despite their advancing years, one thing’s for sure… they’ve still got it.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.
