Jacked In Reviews ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ (2022)

DON'T WORRY DARLING

Bungalow homes, cars that look like electric shavers and a round of Gibson’s for everyone. The ’50s immediately come alive in the opening for Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling.

We watch, Alice (Florence Pugh) and her fellow housewives bid farewell to their husbands as they drive (in a unified fashion) to an unknown location in the desert for work every morning before they return to their partner’s loving arms each night. Then we have Frank (Chris Pine), the leader of this vintage village, who doesn’t ask much of his followers, only that they stay here, where it’s safe. So, it’s definitely no secret that something is a miss from the get-go… BUT WHAT!?

As well as perfect pacing that keeps you engaged and a tone not too dissimilar to that of the original Twilight Zone series, there is not a shot in this movie that is wasted. Every single frame is positively gorgeous to watch as you immerse yourself in this eerie suburban town.

No stranger to a cult-like setting Pugh slides into her role with ease opposite Harry Styles who brings a tremendous intensity to the role of Husband, Jack, proving he is so much more than just a teen heartthrob.

A fun feature that takes you by surprise and keeps you guessing throughout. Rest assured if you detach yourself from the politics that have surrounded this movie since its release, you’ll be ensured of a good time.

Rating: 4 out of 5.
