Jacked In Reviews ‘King & Pawn’ (2022)

Bringing humour to the pawn industry, we have Taylor Olson’s Canadian sitcom, King & Pawn.

Following the story of Rhett McManus (Reid Price) after he inherits his estranged father’s pawn shop, the plot definitely has legs and immediately gains intrigue. Although at times lead, Price feels a bit one-dimensional, they are elevated by decent dialogue and an array of terrific performances from the supporting cast.

Much like shows such as ‘Letterkenny’, this show brings a similar tone.

Much like shows such as Letterkenny, this show brings a similar tone. What separates comedies that hail from the land of manners and ice from that of American sitcoms, is they’re able to bring a certain cool, slickness alongside the humour and there are definitely moments when that is showcased here.

A bit rough around the edges but it definitely feels like a legit pilot episode that wouldn’t feel too out of place amongst its North American peers.

Rating: 3 out of 5.
