Jacked In Reviews ‘Perspective’ (2023)

Perspective chucks you straight into the deep end as we follow the story of Mike (Velton J Lishke) – an unfortunate individual trapped in a warehouse at the ransom of some unknown assailant.

Despite opening with a setting that wouldn’t be out of place in the Saw franchise, that isn’t the story being told here. No stranger to the concept of “not everything is as it seems” director, Lishke once again leads us down his rabbit hole of misdirection.

The jarring cinematography allows us to place ourselves in the protagonist’s shoes as he struggles to see the world around him. You find yourself questioning Mike’s actions throughout, but when the end reveal arrives, his erratic behaviour, being blind to the world around him, and suicidal contemplation all come together.

An ambitious movie that totally pulls it off, showing the aftermath of loss in (perhaps) one of its most potent forms.

An ambitious movie that totally pulls it off, showing the aftermath of loss in (perhaps) one of its most potent forms. Regardless of whether or not you can empathise with the story being told, you’ll agree that it really is all a matter of… Perspective.
