Jacked In Reviews ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ (2024)

What seems like a lifetime ago, we open up on Logan (Hugh Jackman) where we left him last… Dead. Seven years after the events that transpired in Logan (2017), The Merc with the Mouth (Ryan Reynolds) is digging up the grave of our favourite X-Men member in a bid to ignite the adventure of Shawn Levy’s (Free Guy, The Adam Project) Deadpool & Wolverine.

Jacked In Reviews ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ (2023)

As we open on the sequel for one of the greatest Spider-Man/Comic Book/Animated movies of all time, we’re welcomed by Gwen Stacey’s (Hailee Steinfeld) narration, setting the tone for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse with “Let’s do things differently this time. So differently.”

Jacked In Reviews ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ (2023)

As we open on our favourite racoon giving us a tour of Knowhere (the Guardian’s latest HQ destination) to Radiohead’s Creep, we’re immediately reminded of why Guardians of the Galaxy flicks are always a James Gunn movie first and an MCU movie second.

23 Batman Movie Moments You’ll Never Forget

Over the years we’ve had many interpretations of Batman, his villains, Gotham city and just the whole aesthetic of the movies in general. From camp to dark, corny to realistic and each feature has come with its fair share of memorable moments, from the vigilante himself and his infamous foes.

However, some scenes certainly stay with audience members more than others. Whether it be convenient cans of spray used to warn off aquatic predators, a Batmobile that can drive up walls, a real-life hospital destruction mishap that totally paid off or something as simple as an introduction by The Dark Knight himself.

So, with that, we will be looking at those particular moments from The Caped Crusader’s history, that you’ll never forget – from the badass to the outright ridiculous… Holy Memorable Movie Moments, Batman!

Jacked In Reviews ‘The Batman’ (2022)

As we tour Gotham city on a dark, rainy night accompanied by a gritty narration announcing it’s “October 31st”, you can’t help but feel like you’re within the pages of Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns.

“They think I’m hiding in the shadows… But I am the shadows.”

Shortly after this, we’re met with the Mayor of Gotham City, who meets his fate – in quite a brutal fashion – at the hands of our main antagonist, The Riddler (Paul Dano) and with that, we get straight into it.

11 Ways ‘Wanted’ Is Miles Away From Its Darkly Bizarre Comic Book Origins

In 2008 audiences were met with the movie Wanted starring James McAvoy and Angelina Jolie. The story sees frustrated office worker, Wesley Gibson (McAvoy) who soon finds out he is the son of a professional assassin and has inherited his father’s superhuman executing abilities. Needless to say, the story wasn’t mind-blowing, but if you’re in the mood for a good ol’ action flick, accompanied with plenty of violence and pretty impressive visuals, it’s worth a watch.

However, when taking a look at Mark Millar’s Comic Book counterpart that inspired the movie, it’s fair to say the film is a far cry from its literary origins. Aside from the opening scene of Wesley being frustrated with his lifestyle, some characters’ names and the overall assassination angle, there’s very little resemblance at all. Set in a world of supervillains, from all walks of life, the Millarworld series touches on much more bizarre and darker territory as it follows the perspective of a Wesley Gibson who has a much more twisted moral compass.

From superheroes that you’ll definitely recognise to having a character that makes the evilest villains in history look like they belong on Saturday morning television – not to mention a criminal composed entirely of excrement – we will be taking a look at elements from the comic that they chose, for one reason or another, to leave out of the movie.

Jacked In Recommends ‘Super’ (2010)

Super follows the story of Frank Darbo (Rainn Wilson), a luckless fry cook who has literally only had two perfect moments in his entire life. One of which is when he married his wife, Sarah (Liv Tyler), a recovering drug addict.

Jacked In Reviews ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ (2021)

For fear of having to dodge spoilers like the Green Goblin’s pumpkin grenades, Jacked In’s Jack hit the theatre bright and early on December 15th, 2021 to get involved in Spider-Man: No Way Home (in IMAX of course).

Jacked In Recommends ‘V for Vendetta’ (2005)

Based on Alan Moore’s DC comic series of the same name, written for the screen by The Wachowski’s (The Matrix), V for Vendetta is set in an alternate, dystopian United Kingdom, where the country is governed by a fascist Chancellor, Adam Sutler (John Hurt).

Jacked In Reviews ‘The Suicide Squad’ (2021)

With the same premise as the previous movie (and obviously its literary inspiration) The Suicide Squad follows a bunch of villains on a (pretty much, suicidal) mission in order to deduct years from their prison sentences. From the first five minutes, you have hilarious new characters, brutal fatalities and a weasel-human hybrid that eats children, and with that, you’re immediately sold on this movie. As the new squad (and some returning members of this soft reboot) begin jumping into the sea on their latest assignment, the dirt from 2016’s Suicide Squad begins to wash off them and audience members alike.

Jacked In Reviews ‘Akira’ (1988)

Last year Akira was rereleased in 4K IMAX, reminding audiences why this visually stunning, mind-melting, post-apocalyptic, sci-fi anime will always be relevant in the world of cinema. Based on director and writer, Katsuhiro Otomo’s manga series of the same name, Akira was initially released in 1988. This philosophical masterpiece uses the medium of the sci-fi genre and superhuman sub-genre to narrate nuclear war and how incredibly dangerous power can be in the wrong hands. So buckle up as we revisit a feature that changed the game, influential not just for anime, but for movies in general.

11 Reasons Why ‘Superman III’ Is Better Than You Remember

Superman has certainly come a long way ever since Christopher Reeve reignited the character on the big screen back in 1978. To this day he is still highly regarded for his interpretation as the Man of Steel, however, when asked, most people will generally reference the first two movies as being Reeve’s best. Albeit, at the time of release, Superman III (1983) was critically panned compared to its predecessors. And with the bombshell that was Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, that only seemed to strengthen people’s opinions that the last two films in the franchise (discounting Superman Returns) were their least favourite.

However, another revisit to Part III and audiences may find it’s a lot better than they remember. With some of the best effects out of all four movies, more range to Superman (and even Clark Kent) than what had been seen before, and even a solid story arc (swimming in variety) that comes back on itself, we’ll be looking at the reasons why there’s a lot to love about Superman III.
