We open on an Oregon farm in the dead of winter through the POV of what looks like a ‘70s home video. A young child has a run-in with a rather unsavoury individual – who is even too tall to fit into the frame. The stranger addresses this by stating “It seems I wore my long legs today” before squatting to reveal their haunting face. Before we know it, she undoes her seatbelt and the Dad skids the car to a halt, causing Alexia’s head to brutally connect with the passenger window. You start to feel like a horrendous human being as a slight grin begins to pull on your face and with that you realize… Julia Ducournau (Raw) has done it again.

Frailty begins with numerous victims going missing all over Texas, courtesy of the God’s Hand Killer. All of a sudden, a mysterious man (Matthew McConaughey) shows up at the FBI and begins regaling an agent in the stories of his disturbed childhood. It soon becomes apparent that the man’s hardcore Christian Father (Bill Paxton) and the God’s Hand Killer seem to have a lot in common.
