Jacked In Reviews ‘The Pact’ (2023)

Paul Sutton’s The Pact sees three women coming to the realisation that they’re in bad marriages – each one differently toxic in its own way – and realise something has to be done.

The film has a powerful concept around domestic relationships and abusers getting their comeuppance but sadly, isn’t executed to its full potential. It suffers from both needing more and less simultaneous. With the duller moments going on for longer needed to and scenes which would have juiced up the story being left out completely. The lack of comradery between the women lessened their bond, disengaging you from what they’d be willing to do for each other. That as well as not being shown any prep or insight into how they were to “take care” of their husbands led to the manner of executions not seeming to have any rhyme or reason, and made the whole ordeal feel somewhat rushed.

Danni Shepherd steals the show offering us dishevelled, devious and distraught all in a short sitting.

The cinematography and lighting are competent and the dialogue is a bit rusty but thankfully the strength of this short does find itself within the three leads who do a good job at carrying the script. However, it’s fair to say Danni Shepherd steals the show, offering us dishevelled, devious and distraught all in a short sitting.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.
